Kim Ruder is a trial attorney with more than 15 years of experience in civil litigation. Her practice focuses on a wide variety of litigation matters, including medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury, premises liability, automobile and trucking litigation and commercial litigation matters.

Kim is a trial attorney with more than 15 years of experience in civil litigation. Her practice focuses on a wide variety of litigation matters, including medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury, premises liability, automobile and trucking litigation and commercial litigation matters.

Kim’s healthcare litigation practice focuses on the defense of doctors, nurses, and medical facilities, including nursing homes, in state and federal court. She aggressively represents medical professionals in all phases of litigation including discovery, mediation, jury trials, as well as on appeal. She is also consulted in order to represent medical practitioners before licensing boards including the Georgia Composite Board of Medical Examiners.

Kim also represents North America’s largest tank truck transporter, which delivers fuel, chemicals, and food-grade products. She defends this carrier as well as others in state and federal courts throughout the state in cases ranging from minor collisions to those involving catastrophic and life-altering losses.

Kim has also developed a successful motions and appeals practice, including representing clients on appeal before the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Georgia, and in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining Dermer Appel Ruder, Kim was with Cruser & Mitchell for two years and with Carlock, Copeland & Stair for more than a decade. She also worked for Smith, Gambrell & Russell. Her previous practice focused on litigation, including medical malpractice, trucking and automobile liability, premises liability, and commercial litigation.
